Pest Control Services

I provide custom solutions for pest animal & bird problems around your lifestyle block, farm and industrial site.
All work is ethically and humanely undertaken by either precision precharged and regulated, air rifle or rimfire shooting or, when appropriate, live capture. Night shooting is also completed with infrared or thermal imaging to minimize distractions to livestock and neighbours.

Rifle, ammunition and imaging selection is determined by a number of factors including;
- distance to building and neighbours
- previous hunting/shooting pressure
- pest animal population
- neighbouring livestock
- other activities on or near property
Service also includes removal of any live capture or shot pest animals and birds.

Contract Shooting Services

I operate a commercial shooting service for the Pet Food industry along with possible supply to the human consumption market.

Any volume of animals can be supplied with suitable notice. Deer, Rabbit, Hare, Tahr, Goat and Wallaby are all available for supply.

I operate my own mobile chiller to allow for multiple days/nights shooting (where appropriate) to ensure maximum efficiency in supply.

Rabbits, Hares and Wallabies

Rabbits cause extensive damage to pasture, soil and gardens. They are prolific breeders and numbers can quickly increase if not managed.

Hares compete for feed with livestock. They also can severly damage new plantings and destroy sensitive plants around exisitng and establishing wetlands.

Bennett's Wallabies compete heavily with livestock for both native and exotic vegetation.

Shooting methods will be determined on a case by case basis, and range from Air Rifle to Centerfire and Shotgun. This normally occurs during hours of darkness.

Pest Birds

Pigeons can quickly desimate recently sown crops, often roosting in farm buildings and sheds which can create significant damage to the buildings and stored materials/equipment.

Stock and horse feed attract pigeons and the numbers only increase. Free range piggeries often attract large numbers too. We are set-up for targeting birds in these very sensitive environments where livestock and horses are still present.

As with rabbits, pest bird control is undertaken by Air Rifle and Rimfire shooting.
Normally shooting is undertaken in daylight hours.

Feral Cats and Mustelids

Feral cats and mustelids (stoats, ferrets and weasels) are devastating predators to our native birds and reptiles. They are also known to prey upon ground nesting birds like quail, pheasants and chickens.

Pest control options include humane live capture in environments where domestic cats may live.
Air Rifle and Rimfire shooting can also be undertaken where appropriate.

Deer and Goats

Red deer, fallow deer and goats can destroy trees, crops, gardens and pasture, while also damaging fences.
Without natural predators, numbers will continue to increase.

Deer and goat control is undertaken using suppressed Centrefire rifles and, where required, the use of subsonic ammunition.
Deer numbers are visibly higher in spring and summer, while goats are common throughout the year.
